Hello! My name is Erika and I'm an EFL teacher (EFL = English as a Foreign Language). I'm from Brazil and pretty much learned English by myself, only watching TV the whole day and re-watching Star Wars every single weekend. I was basically a geek that didn't have anything to do and, instead of studying, I I decided that school wasn't as important as SciFi. By the age of fifteen I had a basic grasp of the language and entered an English course which wasn't really very good but did the trick when I realized I was better than any other student that had studied English since childhood. Later, I started working there and I'm now a teacher in a better school.
I went to Dentistry College, studied in the most famous university of my country (USP), but sold my dental office to continue being only a teacher. I sometimes miss being a dentist, but then I come back to my senses and realize I love my current job. I have SciFi to thank for making me the person that I am today and making me realize that doing what you like is more important than anything else.
I have to thank my family for being a bunch of SciFi geeks and flooding me with Star Trek episodes, movies, afternoons watching Star Wars and Stargate, and for all the Star Wars books (in English) they let me read, but my most special thanks goes to the Shep Whumpers in Gateworld for existing and for pointing me out in all the right directions. Being part of this fandom changed my life in a way no one can possibly imagine and the friends I have made will never be forgotten, even though I have never seen their faces in person. For all the good things that being a Stargate Atlantis fan brought to me, I will never leave this fandom.
